This examines the likely policy-making process behind the
Government’s forthcoming decisions on replacing Trident. It
analyses the decisions that are required and a number of powerful
factors that mitigate in favour of a status quo nuclear policy -
factors that are unlikely to be openly discussed by the government. It
then explores the policy-making process, the government departments
involved and the difficulties that will be faced in holding the
government to account for its decisions.
